OBLIVION IS AT HAND!!!!

Sun Jan 4, 2009, 8:18 AM
...ahem, please forgive me for the preceding outburst. Well, to clear up the obscurity, I got Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the 360 for Christmas, cause me and my bro got a 360. Since I couldn't find Oblivion for the PS3, I decided to get the GOTY version for the Xbox (funnily enough, my brother found the PS3 versions the day after I bought mine at two other shops). We also got Halo 3 (duh), Ace Combat 6 (both my bro's), and Xbox Live Arcade.

Anyway, the first thing I do when I get home was pop in Oblivion and start playing. (for all of you unfamiliar with the Elder Scrolls, a; GET THREE AND FOUR!!!, and b; Arena, Daggerfell, Morrowind, and Oblivion [I, II, III, and IV, respectively) are role-playing games, but not in the popular sense. Whereas "Final Fantasy", "Xenosaga", or "Last Remnant" are all basically turn-based games with a strict storyline, the Elder Scrolls are basically really big sidequests. As soon as you exit the character creation/tutorial, you are on your own, free to explore and play as you see fit.)

It sent me through the tutorial, where I play around and the game estimates what kind of character class I would like the most depending on my stratagies. First time through, I used a Redguard (weapon master race), and it said I would be a Pilgrim. So I say, yeah, I did use that massive warhammer, but I'm more of a swordsman/healer, so I make my own class based off of the Pilgrim.

Little comparison with the skills of the Pilgrim against my skills:
Pilgrim: Blunt Weapon, Heavy Armor, Sneak, Marksman, Mercantile, Speechcraft, Restoration
Me: Light Armor, Blade, Sneak, Security, Restoration, Mysticism, Speechcraft.

Second time I went through, I played as a Brenton (mage race, decent combat stats), cause I discovered that pure battle prowlness wouldn't get me too far in Oblivion (unlike in Morrowind, where if I have a katana and my set of armor, everyone's screwed.) So I play with blades (I found a katana in the first five minutes, yays!), destruction magic, and sneaking around. And it tells me that I'm still a f***ing Pilgrim! Yeah, I snuck around the entire level, dealing sneak attacks left and right, but I never used a blunt weapon or a bow, ever!

Well, I must begin my quest once again, riding into the sunset. This concludes my random rant.

oh shit.

Oh yeah, I specialize in the following skills now:

Blade: Bladed weapons, swords, halberds and the like (I had to have it for my katanas)
Destruction: Blow shit up, need I say more?
Restoration: Heal myself while I blow shit up
Light Armor: For sneaking around
Heavy Armor: For breaking through the gates of Oblivion
Sneak: To get 6x damage bonuses, steal, and move stealthy-like (also happens to be my highest skill)
Security: Picking locks, ftw

Who needs potions and bows and arrows when you got kickass spells? (btw, I now actually HAVE the mana needed to use the stronger spells consistantly)

Yeah, I use it with the 360, so no worries (hell, I have the expansion packs for it, lol. Good thing I didn't buy the laptop version...)

Ah, cool! I think the issue my friend had was that his laptop wasn't quite powerful enough for it.
